Scholastic Storybook Treasures - Young Artists 3pack Collection Review

As most of you know by now, my 7 year old is turning into quite the reader and one of her greatest enjoyments has always been books!

I could not wait to review the Scholastic Storybook Treasures Young Artist Collection DVD.

From the musical masterpiece Zin! Zin! ZIn! A Violin to the tale of overcoming stage fright Shrinking Violet and the outstandingly original The Dot, kids and parents will be entertained and inspired to tap into their inner artist! With celebrity narration and songs by Aretha Franklin, Zach Braff and more, this collection provides the perfect primer for young artists, musicians, and performers.

Zin! Zin! Zin! A Violin…and more stories for young musicians includes:
  • Musical Max
  • The Star-Spangled Banner
  • Keeping House
  • Patrick
  • Apt. 3
The Dot…and more stories for young artists includes:
  • Art
  • Ish
  • Norman the Doorman
  • Wallace’s Lists
Shrinking Violet…and more stories for young performers includes:
  • Three Cheers for Catherine the Great
  • Giraffes Can’t Dance
  • Amazing Grace
This DVD Collection Supports: Creativity; Self-Confidence; Art Appreciation
Bonus Features
Interview with Art Author/Illustrator Patrick McDonnell; Spanish Version of The Dot, Ish, and Amazing Grace; Read-Along

This collection was awesome!  As we watched the DVD's I actually learned quite a bit that I obviously didn't pay attention to when I was in school.  I found it great that it gave a quick little history lesson on the Star Spangled Banner and how it was written.  Presley was so surprised that the Star Spangled Banner has other versus.  We are planning a trip to Washington D.C. and when they showed the actual flag that flew the during the War of 1812, which the poem was written, in the Museum of Natural History, she said "COOOOLLLL."

If I spoke about all the amazing lessons these wonderful DVD's teach young minds, this would be probably the longest blog post EVER!  But let me just tell you, the narration is tremendous and kept Presley's attention during the whole video.  The other DVD's touch on other matters such as good housekeeping and overcoming stage fright.

Let's just say this is a great gift for your favorite Teacher or for a young child who loves to read!
